Chairman, Brian Eaton, provides an insight into what has been a very busy year – if not one of the busiest, for LNBP at Braunston

With 50 bookings slots taken up this year and 20 Community Days filled, we have taken over 600 people from a wide diversified range of groups out on the canals this year and welcomed new guests to our client list.

Our annual attendance at the Crick Boat Show over the Spring Bank Holiday was a great success and supported by a 31 strong team of LNBP staff. The Crick venue for our AGM has also proved to be popular and will be the location for next year.

Our new website is now up and running and we would like to thank Laura Dunn and Karl Quinney for all the work they have done and their loyal support.

In June we also supported the ‘Stratford 2 Stratford Project’ organised by Canal and River Trust. This was a very high profile CRT project for a school drama group from Chobham Acadamy and consisted of 30 students accompanied by 5 adults and a TV film crew travelling from Stratford in London to Stratford-on-Avon teaching the group about Shakespeare and the Canals.  The drama group then performed during this year’s Stratford-on-Avon Waterfest several times. Our LNBP skippers provided support by skippering the six boats from Hatton to Stratford and back to Braunston.

A short video from that fabulous trip will be available on our website shortly.

As always, our sincere thanks go to the all our skippers, our face painting team and support team members for giving their time and expertise throughout the year – we couldn’t do it without you!

Over the winter period window replacement will be undertaken together with our normal maintenance schedule. As the 2015 season draws to a close, preparations are already well in hand for next year.

We would like to remind all groups that by booking your boat before the end of this year an early booking discount will be given.

Booking Forms and full details of availability are available on our website www.lnbp.co.uk or contact Nigel our Bookings Officer by e-mail, nigelsmith25@hotmail.com or by telephone, 0121 523 0401.

In November we will be holding our Skippers Workshop, which provides the opportunity to review our policies and procedures and ensure that we can provide a first class service for all our clients.

LNBP is in its 34th year and many members of the team have been dedicated to our aims for over 25 years.
To ensure that we can continue to provide young people, those who are disadvantaged and community groups with the enjoyment of canal boating we are currently seeking new members to join the Executive Team, particularly those who have administrative skills which form the working foundation and backbone of the charity.
If you would like to join us please contact us either by email: secretary@lnbp.co.uk or telephone:  020 8699 7806.

We wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year and look forward to welcoming you aboard next year.
