We are always pleased to welcome a wide range of different community groups to our boats at Bottom Lock at Braunston in Northamptonshire, many of which that we recognise and appreciate travel some distances to reach us.

When you consider where we are in the centre of the UK, it is amazing to think that in the last few years alone we have welcomed groups from Surrey, Kent, Devon, Lancashire and Hampshire, and even as far afield as Ireland and Colorado, USA; for which as always we are grateful and appreciative of.

But on top of that, we also regularly receive visits from many local and regional community groups and organisations either or weekend or short breaks, or day trips.

And one of our returning group visits earlier this month could not be more local – they are literally from the next village along from Braunston.

The village of Willoughby is a just a stone’s throw over the county border into Warwickshire, but is only a mile down the road from Braunston and could not be any more local to us.

So it was our pleasure to once again welcome members from The Willoughby Society for another of their day trips with us as part of their annual programme of events.

Despite the change in plan route-wise due to the lock restrictions, the day was a great success once again with weather staying fair and decent to help matters too.

Our thanks to Leonie for booking this latest trip; we hope you had a great time and hope to see you again next year.

And thanks to LNBP Project Skippers of the husband and wife team Paul (also LNBP’s Chairperson) and Denise for taking the party out.
