Sunday saw LNBP at Braunston enjoy a successful involvement with the Union Canal Carriers (UCC) Open Day.
UCC are our near neighbours along the canal at Bottom Lock, Braunston, and they were hosting an Open Day as part of the Drifters’ National Open Day 2016.
As well as introducing visitors to their own fleet, Heather and her team kindly pointed many people to us.  Interestingly, they seemed to be an entirely new lot of non-boating people who were thinking of having a narrowboat holiday and we showed them through Lancelot and introduced them to what we do and are about.
Whilst we did not have anybody come to us who were specifically looking to hire for a group, there was a lot of interest in what we do and offer, and pleasingly a number of our promotional leaflets were taken.
Overall, it was certainly a great opportunity to spread the words about what we do and offer, and all very much close to home where Lancelot and Guinevere are based.
Derek and Brian were present all of the time and also operated UCC’s Water Ouzel as a free trip boat for them. We were very glad that Mike came along in the afternoon to help out.
UCC open day 17042016
Heather at UCC was very supportive and telling those who went out on Water Ouzel about us, and allowing us to have a collection bucket on the boat.
We’re told it proved to be a very successful and worthy day for UCC – they even took a booking on Sunday for next weekend.
A huge thank you to Heather and all at UCC for their kind invitation to be involved with the Open Day and their help and assistance in helping us promote our concern to their visitors.
