Our Taster Days are the ideal opportunity for leaders and organisers of community and youth groups and organisations to come and experience everything we can offer from residential trips on our boats on the canals here on the Northamptonshire-Warwickshire border.

It’s a weekend or day out to ‘try before you buy’. You get the opportunity to meet and chat to members of our team and our project skippers, come aboard our boats to see everything we can offer to you and your group first-hand, plus we will take you out on Lancelot and Guinevere to experience what your group can expect to look forward to out on the canal.

So when is this opportunity taking place?

Over the weekend of Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th March, 2025. We are offering Scout and Guiding Leaders, and leaders and organisers of communty and youth groups a complementary taster ‘stay and play’ with us.

We will once again be providing opportunity for local community groups and organisations to enjoy short trips out on our boats to sample life on the Oxford and Grand Union Canals in and around Braunston, Northamptonshire.

LNBP will be offering either daytime trips – either full or half day – and evening trips to enjoy the peace, calm and gentle pace of the canals and the beautiful countryside in this picturesque part of central England.

As well as sampling life afloat with a trip on our boats, why not think about exploring the historic village of Braunston (perhaps with a visit to one of several pubs in the village or by the canalside) or by taking a stroll on one of the local walking routes close to LNBP’s mooring base.

LNBP will be running their 2024 Community Days across the following dates:-

• Tuesday 25 to Thursday 27^th June 2024
• Tuesday 2^nd to Thursday 4^th July 2024
• Tuesday 9^th to Thursday 11^th July 2024

Both of our boats Lancelot and Guinevere will be running on all of these dates and can be booked together (for a total of 24 persons) or individually (up to 12 persons) according to your size of group party.

These trips are offered free of charge to local community groups and organisations, although donations are always welcome and gladly received to enable us to continue our work and offer the opportunities we provide.

Bookings for our Community Days trips are always popular and dates and boats are therefore subject to availability.

We are already taking bookings from community group and organisations for weekend and midweek short breaks and longer holidays for next year, and in some cases 2025.

By planning ahead and booking now, you are safe in the knowledge that booking your group’s residential week or weekend is sorted and it is one less task to think about to until the new year.

With many dates in spring and summer already beginning to get reserved, don’t delay. Book now to avoid disappointment.

And here is an incentive to book and be an ‘early bird’.

Place a booking with us of two nights or more for your group or organisation by 31^st December 2023, and you will receive £50.00 off your total booking.

Our main marketing brochure booklet has been updated and given a fresh look with our distinctive branding and new imagery, providing an overview of who we are, what we do and can offer to community groups and organisations.

Plus we now also have a Volunteering brochure booklet, highlighting and promoting the many opportunities we have available for volunteers to join and get involved with us.

Both four page booklets are in A5 size format making them both easy to read and handle, and will be readily available on display and to take away at this weekend’s Crick Boat Show.

If you are attending, do pop by the Trip Boat Marquee at the quayside to pick one up. Both will also be available on Guinevere which will be moored nearby and available for you to visit and look around.

Stratford Rock Choir made the trip across the county border to join us for a day trip as part of our Community Days initiative.

As their title suggests they are most likely to make some sounds of their own and enjoy a slightly louder environment on a regular basis, so a visit to our boats and then to cruise on the canals in and around Braunston must have been a whole quieter experience.

And from the kind greeting we received (below), they certainly enjoyed themselves.

We have had confirmation and clearance that we are open for bookings and able to welcome back community groups for overnight trips and residential breaks on our boats here on the canals of central England.

It goes without saying that the last 15 months or so has had a major impact on everyone. And that has also included LNBP as we have not been able to offer organised community groups such as Scouts, Guides and Cadets any of our organised trips or residential breaks.

But guidance has now been updated and these groups and others are now allowed to use our boats for overnight (nights away) trips.

As always, hirers are responsible for ensuring compliance with their own organisations rules / requirements.

So get planning and booking for autumn, and further ahead into 2022 now.
